Showlight Committee

Showlight is organised by a group of dedicated and passionate industry people, all on a voluntary basis. Below is a list of the Showlight committee members.

Mr. Tetlow is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and has been working as a lighting designer and consultant for television, theatre, and architecture since 1975. 


He is a member of the American Society of Theatre Consultants, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, International Photographers Guild #600, and The Illuminating Engineering Society. 

His awards include a 1990 Emmy Award for the lighting of Sesame St.; a 1987 Monitor Award for Courting, an original studio drama; and a 1985 Monitor Award for a music video with Jim Henson's Muppets.

Jessica has worked in the industry since 1998, at manufacturer and rental companies and as a freelancer in a range of jobs supporting the creative process of live production.

She currently splits her time between industry charity, Backup Tech and lighting & rigging rental company, Christie Lites. 

 

Jessica attended her first Showlight in 2005 in Munich as an exhibitor and was key in Martin becoming main sponsor of Showlight 2009 in Glasgow. Showlight 2025 will be her 4th event on the committee.

As Editor of PLASA Media’s Light & Sound International (LSi) magazine, Claire has a wide ranging knowledge of the industry and a keen interest in industry developments and practices. She regularly attends international events representing both PLASA and LSi and has a passion for live production and the creative process.

Having worked for over 25 years in the exciting world of entertainment technology - with both the magazine Lighting and Sound International and PLASA exhibitions and membership, Jane now finds herself a long-term member of the Showlight Committee. 


Her first foray into Showlight was the fabulous Edinburgh event which just blew her away and she was hooked. So, here she is, 20 years and five Showlights, later looking forward to the next Conference in 2025.  It just gets better and better!

Bernie worked for BBC Outside Broadcasts for over thirty years as a Vision Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Lighting Director, and since then has been working freelance lighting programmes such as the BBC Proms, Young Musician competition, and events such as the Royal Wedding. His interest in theatre led him to work on many operas and ballets where he specialises in re-lighting productions for cinema, big screens and broadcast for clients including The National Theatre, Covent Garden and Glyndebourne. 


Organising the AV side of Showlight is a job that has grown enormously over the past few events, giving Bernie Davis and his co-volunteers a lot of extra work – but they always do an outstanding job!

David Debrinay started his career as a lighting designer when he was 22 years old after being a lighting designer assistant while he studied History at the University of Lyon.


Curious and eager for new experiences, he has been multiplying his projects in France and abroad for over 20 years, designing lights in fields as varied as theatre, dance, opera, luxury events and museography.


For over 10 years, David Debrinay has been a teacher in lighting dramatic art at the INSA engineering school in Lyon and "Lighting Designer Union" board member.


In 2021 he co-founded Ljoma, a lighting design studio based in Lyon.

Tracy retired from Walt Disney Imagineering Paris in 2023 after a 33-year career at Disneyland Paris. Tracy was the Art Director for the Disneyland Park from 2011-2023. She is a Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Master, and a blooloop Top 50 Influencer. She can be seen in the Disney + series, Behind the Attraction.


Tracy joined the Show Lighting team of Imagineers designing and building Disneyland Paris in 1990. She shed light upon Disney Parks, Hotels and Disney Village for 20 years and was named the LDI Lighting Designer of the Year in 2002 for her work in Walt Disney Studios Park. 


A native of Chicago, she spent her pre-Imagineering career between theatres in New York and France.

Rick Fisher is a lighting designer for plays, musicals and operas and is the vice president and former chairman of the Association of Lighting Designers.  He is a trustee of Back Up Tech the charity that supports people working in the Lighting Industry.

Matt is proud to be responsible for Sponsorship & Exhibition management on behalf of the Showlight committee. As the European Sales Director for Ayrton Lighting with over 24 years of experience in the entertainment lighting industry, he is well-travelled - not just traversing Europe, but also having spent eight years at sea circumnavigating the world working for Carnival Cruise Lines. Beyond his professional achievements, he is a committed advocate for community causes, serving as Chairman of the Hunstanton & District Round Table.

Julie has worked in the industry since 1985, the first decade of which as a West End followspot operator before getting a ‘proper job’ with DHA Lighting. Here she ‘sold holes’ for 12 years with roles in international sales, managing a distributor network and ultimately in PR & Marketing. She has been a freelance PR & Marketing Consultant for over 18 years, and contributes to Light & Sound International when she can! She has been involved with Showlight since Florence in 2017… and still keeps coming back for more!

Alan Luxford joined Strand Electric in 1967 and remained with them until April 2022, finally retiring after 55 years. During this time he saw off 5 take overs and lots of changes in the industry. He was the last General Manager of a Strand Lighting Company, and is currently a consultant for Entertainment Lighting, and represents Tempest projector enclosures in Europe and Middle East.

Peter Marshall has forty years’ experience in the lighting business, a career that has brought him a wealth of experience of touring with musical and dance productions in the United States, Europe, and Asia, including large-scale productions for Coca-Cola, General Motors and Honeywell Bull, and the Super Bowl XX half time show in New Orleans in 1986.


Peter started working at Theatre Projects Lighting Services in 1987 as a Rental Executive and in 1994 the company was merged with Vari-Lite Europe and in 2004 they merged with Production Resource Group (PRG). Since then, he has been  promoted to Sales Director specialising in the Theatre Market, in this position he has managed the work and performance of a team of six employees, and he is part of the current Management Team. 


In recent years, Peter has been responsible for West End and Worldwide touring productions, together with large-scale events. West End musicals include various Mamma Mia’s, Wicked, Lion King, Jersey Boys, Book of Mormon, Come From Away, & Juliet and Dear Evan Hanson, plus touring productions like Cats, Beautiful, Blue Man Group and Phantom of the Opera. Large scale spectacular events namely the VE-Day and VJ-Day, celebrations,  The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations 2002, Commonwealth Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Manchester 2002 ,  The Ceremonies of the 28th Olympiad in Athens, Greece in 2004 and Broadcast and Sports Presentation lighting for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s.


Outside of work Peter enjoys playing golf with his two sons Samuel and Thomas, watching rugby and spending time with his wife Mary.

Shane has been PLASA's Finance Director for over 20 years, and has been involved with Showlight’s finances since the 1997 event in Ghent. As a trustee for Backup Tech, he regularly takes part in the charity’s fundraising endeavours, including BikeFest and the Backup Village Fete, helping to raise vital funds for our industry colleagues in need.

Originally from France, Sophie joined ETC in 2004 in their London office, working in events and communications until her move to the US in 2016. As the Education and Training Manager, she oversees ETC's online and North American training events and programs.  

Although she had no theatre or lighting background prior to ETC, she is slowly coming around to the idea that it might be time to stop saying: "Oh, but I'm not really a lighting person."

Roger has been part of Showlight since 2005. His award winning work in many different genres has been seen on stage and screens across the world, not only as a lighting designer and cinematographer but also as writer and director. Although born in the Netherlands, he started his career in the UK and now resides in France. He has worked in 30 different countries and is a graduate, and now fellow, of the Rose Bruford college.

James has recently started his creative technology company, Copper Candle, after having spent the last 12 years creating 3D visualisations at the Royal Opera House and as a Digital Fellow for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Magic Leap. He has worked on some of the world’s biggest and most exciting projects including The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Ceremonies, Miss Saigon, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, &Juliet and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. He has been a pioneer in developing immersive media tools for theatre design visualisation and location-based experiences and is currently undertaking a part-time PhD in visualisation for theatre design at Rose Bruford College and University of East London. He is also Head of Development for Rose Bruford’s Centre for Digital Production and is developing industry collaborations for creative projects using immersive XR technology.

Claus Spreyer is the sales director for Robert Juliat to which he brings his broad knowledge and strong relationships across the lighting industry he has worked in since 1995. Claus’s career has focused largely on marketing, sales and consulting activities. Previously with Lightpower/MA Lighting, where he was responsible for partner relationships, the graduated lawyer, consultant, and passionate musician is well established in the entertainment world.

Fridthjofur, better known as Fiffi, is a lighting designer and theatre consultant, originally from Iceland. He studied lighting design at the Central School of Speech and Drama, performance design at Central St. Martins and has designed the lighting for for most forms of live performance in all shapes and sizes in various places around the world. Fridthjofur has consulted on the design or renovations on over sixty theatres worldwide and as an avid supporter of education he regularly lectures at drama.

Chris is the founder of West Training Services, which offers training design and development services to companies throughout the entertainment industry. Heading up the training departments of 4 major manufacturers during his career, he has extensive experience in delivering training, building training programmes, and training other trainers to deliver them.

Séverine Zucchiatti has over 20 years’ marketing experience, having spent a decade in the graphic arts industry, where she worked in an international environment. Fascinated by the lighting community and technology, she is the Communications Manager of French lighting manufacturer Robert Juliat for the past 12 years. With expertise in translation and writing, she plays an active role in helping the 100-year old family-owned company reach their audience with efficiency, precision and elegance.
